Judge King has over 24 years of legal experience in a variety of areas to include complex Family Law litigation, Immigration Issues, Criminal Law, Abuse Neglect & Dependency Law and Civil litigation.
- Practiced as an attorney in the Federal and State Courts.
- Has served as a presenter and panelist on topics of law for Judges and judicial staff members at the UNC School of Government and Administrative Office of the Courts sponsored conferences.

Great Work Ethic & Integrity Matters
Judge King is honored that in 2009, the members of the Cumberland County Bar Association voted to send her name to then Governor Beverly Purdue for consideration in the judicial appointment to a vacant seat. Governor Perdue appointed Judge King to the district court seat after conducting background checks, considering community input and holding interviews with other potential candidates.
In 2009, the Cumberland County voters re-elected Judge King to serve on the District Court. Immediately after assuming her duties as judge, she was assigned to preside over Abuse Neglect and Dependency Court, where she served to protect and serve the most vulnerable citizens, our children.
Judge King went on to serve in the juvenile delinquency courts, where she partnered with Communicate of Cumberland County to establish the mentoring group, Reclaiming Futures. The program was implemented to provide mentors and experiences to children finding themselves in need of guidance and positive reinforcement. She has been the presided in civil litigation court involving property disputes and breach of contract. Currently, Judge King is assigned as a family court judge and presides over complex litigations involving the division of marital property & debts, child custody and support issues.
In 2020, the Court system faced an unprecedented transition because of the Covid pandemic and Judge King helped navigate the Court system through online court hearings and by implementing safety measures for the protection of citizens when conducting trials.
